Description
Paris: Destouches, C1850. First edition. An uncoloured print from Guilmard's furniture series. A rare and superb collection of lithographs devoted to Parisian furniture from the mid-19th century. Clean and tidy print. Held under passe partout. We particularly like this print as it is for a rather fine bookcase. The style of this piece, with its lavish ornamentation, classical figures, and references to the arts, is characteristic of the French Renaissance Revival (also known as the Neo-Renaissance) period, which was popular in the mid- to late-19th century, particularly during the reign of Napoleon III (Second Empire, circa 1852–1870). print is 32cm x 21cm. Passe partout is 36cm x 28cm. . L'estampe mesure 32 cm x 21 cm. Passe partout mesure 36cm x 28cm.
