Paris: Destouches, C1850. First edition. An uncoloured print from Guilmard's furniture series. A rare and superb collection of lithographs devoted to Parisian furniture from the mid-19th century. Clean and tidy print. Held under passe partout. We particularly like this print as it is for a rather fine bookcase. The style of this piece, with its lavish ornamentation, classical figures, and references to the arts, is characteristic of the French Renaissance Revival (also known as the Neo-Renaissance) period, which was popular in the mid- to late-19th century, particularly during the reign of Napoleon III (Second Empire, circa 1852–1870). print is 32cm x 21cm. Passe partout is 36cm x 28cm. . Première édition. Épreuve non coloriée de la série des meubles de Guilmard. Une rare et superbe collection de lithographies consacrées au mobilier parisien du milieu du XIXe siècle. Épreuve propre et soignée. Tenue sous passe partout. Nous aimons particulièrement cette estampe car elle est destinée à une très belle bibliothèque. Le style de cette pièce, avec son ornementation somptueuse, ses figures classiques et ses références aux arts, est caractéristique de la période Renaissance française (également connue sous le nom de Néo-Renaissance), qui était populaire au milieu et à la fin du XIXe siècle, en particulier sous le règne de Napoléon III (Second Empire, vers 1852-1870).
